The primary purpose of the foundation is to combat climate change and its negative consequences, particularly, but not exclusively, by promoting or otherwise supporting measures and projects in Switzerland and abroad that serve to pursue this purpose, whether through measures to reduce emissions or to absorb greenhouse gases or through measures that strengthen societal readiness for action in this area. As part of its purpose, the foundation also supports social, cultural, and ecological projects in Switzerland and abroad that strengthen social cohesion, democratic processes, cultural diversity, nature conservation, and the sustainable use of natural resources. To achieve its charitable purpose, the foundation can, among other things: carry out and support projects and provide grants and assistance to organizations that in turn pursue the foundation's purpose (grant funding); make sustainable investments in companies and projects that make a verifiable contribution to fulfilling the foundation's purpose with entrepreneurial approaches; establish other legal entities (e.g., associations, foundations, companies) or acquire participations in such legal entities or become a member of purpose-related associations as part of the purpose pursuit; enter into cooperation agreements of a substantive or structural nature with other legal or natural persons. The foundation is charitable, does not pursue any commercial purposes, and does not aim to make a profit.
