Promotion and support of students of the Humanistic Gymnasium on Burg in Basel who demonstrate exceptional talent, have a sound character and, as Goethe put it, possess the 'talent for talent', i.e. show inclination and willingness to develop and apply their gifts with joy and perseverance. Under the same conditions, promotion and support of students from schools related to the Humanistic Gymnasium on Burg in Basel, in the city of Basel or in the Swiss part of the Regio Basiliensis, including the two half-cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, including the former district of Laufen, the districts of Dorneck and Thierstein in the canton of Solothurn, and the districts of Rheinfelden and Laufenburg in the canton of Aargau. Exceptionally, the foundation also promotes and supports students, preferably from the University of Basel, but also from other universities, provided they meet the aforementioned character requirements and are graduates of schools whose members are eligible as beneficiaries.
