The primary purpose of the foundation is to promote and support private individuals and institutions in the areas of elderly and disabled care and support, as well as to support individuals who are themselves elderly, disabled or in need of care. The secondary purpose of the foundation is to provide direct or indirect support for medical research (cancer or other widespread or dangerous, poorly researched or combated diseases), the fight against epidemics, direct and indirect aid for the needy or distressed mountain population, plant and animal protection, animal welfare, particularly with regard to species-appropriate animal husbandry, especially for Mr. Erwin Kessler, as well as support for artists. In pursuing its purpose, the foundation shall, among other things, make grants to the following institutions and individuals: Salvation Army Switzerland Foundation, institutions that care for battered and abused women, and Tibetan Children Village. The foundation may contribute to the maintenance of the building and garden of the Alfred Sutter Park, provided that the building and park are used for their intended purpose.
