The foundation aims to promote art, science and education as well as other public and charitable causes. Specifically, it aims to make its own works of art accessible to the public through loans to museums or similar institutions, exhibitions and events. It can also, without limiting the generality of the preceding paragraph, promote and support scientific research with the aim of achieving results and practical applications in the public interest and for the benefit of the general public, as well as promote and support projects and activities for the sustainable use of nature and natural resources for the benefit of the general public. The foundation can operate throughout Switzerland and internationally within the scope of its purpose. It has a non-profit character, is not profit-driven and does not pursue any religious or party-political goals or commercial purposes. Consequently, the foundation shall not engage in activities aimed at influencing public opinion or legislation and shall not participate in campaigns by or against political parties or candidates for public office. The foundation is prohibited from providing services or benefits to members of the foundation board, directors and managing directors of the foundation, or persons who make significant contributions to the foundation, as well as family members of the aforementioned persons or business units in which the aforementioned persons are significantly involved, or from conducting business with these persons. This does not apply to the reimbursement of expenses and fees in accordance with Article 5.1 of the statutes, as well as the payment of reasonable salaries or fees to employees of the foundation.
