The objectives of the Association are to: a) bring together under its auspices the National Sports Journalists' Associations (NSJA) from around the world; b) encourage and assist in the creation of National Sports Journalists' Associations in countries where such associations do not yet exist; c) recognize and support the authority and autonomy of its member associations; d) promote closer ties between its member associations and sports organizations; e) coordinate and protect the ethical and professional interests of its member associations and their members; f) develop the spirit of sportsmanship and solidarity among sports journalists worldwide and disseminate the ideals of fair play in sports journalism and reporting; g) collaborate with organizations aimed at promoting sports globally and encourage them to facilitate the work of professional sports media; h) collect, gather and disseminate information to its members and among them and share its views and decisions with other organizations; i) establish, maintain, publish and distribute its official publications; j) assist sports organizations that have Media Commissions or Working Groups; k) assist event organizers by providing expert services from AIPS for consultation and advice to maximize and optimize media services; l) promote the ideals of the Olympic Movement and promote freedom of the sports press.
