To promote, defend and facilitate the development of sustainable and innovative solutions for increased, optimized, safe and equitable use of Underground Space, enabling the tunnel industry and its stakeholders to excel in providing: Technical knowledge in the field of tunnels and underground space through the publication of recommendations, training and creation of information and idea exchange platforms; Best practices in health and safety, planning, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance; Tools for decision-makers and associated professionals to make informed decisions about the underground; Reliable and economic underground solutions to meet the challenges of urbanization and the environment; Effective and resilient underground infrastructure for current and future generations. The Association's objectives, aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are as follows: To facilitate more interactions and joint activities between Member Nations (Observer Nations) and the industry for the development and sharing of knowledge and experiences among stakeholders; To create a platform for the education and training of engineers on available technologies for tunnel construction and maintenance through the contribution of Working Groups and Committees; To rationalize the Association's activities for effective interaction between the Executive Bureau, the Secretariat, Member Nations, (Observer Nations), Working Groups and Committees through organizational restructuring.
