The purpose of the cooperative is to promote affordable housing on a non-profit basis, in particular to satisfy or improve the housing needs in Illnau-Effretikon by providing suitable housing for families, individuals and groups of people of all ages and social classes; creating and operating housing for the elderly; satisfying or improving the commercial and cultural needs related to housing, e.g. by providing shopping, therapy or similar commercial spaces. The cooperative rents and sells affordable housing primarily to its members. The cooperative's activities are not profit-driven. The properties are to be withdrawn from speculation. When selling real estate, the cooperative ensures that the buyers cannot engage in speculative transactions. The cooperative is free to design its projects; strives for a mix of housing size, comfort, age and social background of the users, both overall and within larger projects, without making specific demands on their person; can acquire already developed properties as well as currently undeveloped but developable land for ownership and build suitable projects on them; can also acquire building rights to properties, rent houses, participate in other companies or acquire membership in umbrella organizations of non-profit housing cooperatives.
