The foundation aims to operate and promote elderly care that is based on the anthroposophical concept of human nature and provides a sense of purpose. Its task is to promote meaningful quality of life in all areas of aging, supporting a human and dignified existence. The foundation is also the operator of the Birkenrain old-age and nursing home in Zurich. It can also be the operator of other institutions with the same or similar goals in Switzerland and network or cooperate with institutions with corresponding goals. Furthermore, it can promote elderly care that contributes to meaningful aging. It can also conduct all business that is related to the foundation's purpose or suitable to promote it: planning and realization of new and renovation projects, including the procurement of necessary external funds in the form of mortgages and loans, sponsorship funds, donations, and contributions for the construction and operation of one or more old-age and nursing homes, as well as the construction and operation of social, age- and disability-friendly housing forms. The acquisition, rental, management, and sale of properties (building land, developed plots, building rights) for the purpose of supporting and securing housing forms for meaningful aging and age- and disability-friendly housing. Support can be provided to individuals from all population groups and to non-profit organizations with similar goals in the form of provision of housing and care spaces through care contracts, but also in the form of subsidies, interest-free loans, and other financing forms. The foundation board is free to prioritize the areas of impact and the use of resources within the framework of the foundation's purpose, with the promotion of elderly care based on the anthroposophical concept of human nature as the primary goal and all other goals as secondary goals subordinate to it. There is no obligation to pursue all goals or to support the secondary goals equally. The foundation has no commercial purpose and does not aim to make a profit. Within the framework of its purpose, the foundation can acquire, sell, and manage properties and plots of land, as well as participations in Switzerland. This is for the operation of one or more old-age and nursing homes or age-friendly housing.
