The foundation aims to pursue non-profit purposes of all kinds, in particular in the areas of education and training, environmental, climate and landscape protection, health promotion, international understanding, science, culture and sustainable social development. (2) The foundation fulfills this purpose primarily by providing grants to non-profit organizations in Switzerland and abroad that fulfill the foundation's purpose. The foundation provides grants in particular to the following organizations: - Mercator Switzerland Foundation, Zurich, - Mercator GmbH, Essen. (3) To achieve its non-profit purpose, the foundation may also: - carry out and support projects and provide funding and assistance to individuals and organizations that fall within the foundation's purpose; - establish further legal entities (such as associations, foundations, companies) or acquire participations in such legal entities or become a member of purpose-related associations; - enter into content-related or structural cooperations with other legal or natural persons; - provide services of all kinds (e.g. in the area of asset management) that are related to the fulfillment of the purpose. Such services are provided exclusively for the benefit and support of the beneficiaries. The foundation board may set priorities within the framework of these activities at its discretion. (4) The foundation has a non-profit character, does not pursue any commercial purposes and does not aim to make a profit.
