The purpose of the foundation is to support communities in rural areas of Zambia in developing their economic livelihoods and protecting their natural environment. The foundation promotes projects for the sustainable securing of the means of subsistence in the respective communities. The details of the projects and measures supported in each case, in particular the criteria for the distribution of the grant funds to the communities, are stipulated in separate regulations. In general, the foundation should consider projects to secure and further develop the economic means of subsistence in the respective communities, which cooperate with CCS for the protection of nature. Further criteria to be considered are: the necessity of the communities' own contribution; the alignment of the projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); ensuring absolute transparency; and the exclusion of conflicts of interest. The foundation's purpose may also extend to communities in Botswana, Zimbabwe and other countries in which the founder implements nature projects. Furthermore, the foundation may participate in and/or finance other legal entities and acquire real estate and immovable property in Switzerland or in the areas of activity, to the extent that this is conducive to the foundation's purpose. The foundation has a charitable purpose and does not pursue a commercial purpose. Within the framework of its purpose, the foundation is active in Switzerland and abroad.
