The foundation aims to promote liberal democracy on a non-profit basis, particularly by supporting political education and participation of young people and young adults. It campaigns against social and political polarization. It promotes reforms and the further development of democratic practices. The foundation can carry out or enable events in the Basel region, in Switzerland and abroad, alone or in conjunction with other institutions, particularly by providing financial contributions, and implement or support non-profit activities, primarily of a research, educational, social, communicative or cultural nature, and in general, carry out all activities that are suitable for directly or indirectly promoting the purpose of the foundation or the investment of its assets. The foundation can also promote and carry out charitable activities, provided that they are expected to contribute to a free, just and peaceful society. The foundation does not pursue individual interests or economic purposes.
