Professional and private exchange of experiences and opinions among association members in the service of the surgically active clinics and departments of the University of Basel; establishment of guidelines and directives in areas of interest. The association primarily deals with the following topics and tasks: medical continuing education and training, training of non-medical staff, research and innovation, coordination of teaching, quality and reputation of the department, representation of professional policy interests, cooperation within the department, representation in the bodies of the University and the Cantonal Hospital Basel, information dissemination, procurement, administration and use of financial resources for the purpose of the association.
