The foundation generally promotes research, science and teaching, particularly in the fields of forestry, history, business and economics. To this end, the foundation specifically supports and promotes individuals with a completed master's degree, for example on their way to a doctorate or habilitation (award of a doctoral or professorial title; henceforth students), with a special willingness to perform and proof of performance, as well as professorships and chairs. The support is intended to benefit students and professorships and chairs in the aforementioned fields of study; however, the foundation can also support students and professorships and chairs in other fields of study. Admission to the support is granted regardless of the social circumstances of the students, exclusively on the basis of the aforementioned criteria. The foundation is active throughout Switzerland within the framework of its purpose; this also includes support for Swiss citizens who pursue their scientific activities abroad. The foundation can exceptionally also be active abroad, provided that this activity can be of general societal benefit to Switzerland and the results of the supported scientific activities also benefit Switzerland. The foundation pursues non-profit purposes. It is politically and denominationally neutral. The foundation does not pursue any commercial purpose and does not strive for profit. The foundation's profits and capital are exclusively dedicated to the aforementioned purpose.
