The foundation serves to promote and disseminate scientific work in the fields of the history of medicine and natural sciences. In particular, it supports works that provide an overview of larger areas of the history of medicine and natural sciences, or that deal with the intellectual development and practical significance of a discovery or invention in these fields for the past and present. Preference is given to works that highlight the living connection between history and the present in medicine and natural sciences. The foundation also organizes lectures and conferences (symposia) and publishes works from these fields. It ensures, where possible, the publication of the lectures and essays it has organized or initiated through printing. Lectures commissioned by the foundation should be appropriately remunerated. The foundation can also organize competitions. Furthermore, the foundation can provide printing subsidies for larger publications and honor the authors with a foundation contribution.
