The Association does not pursue commercial purposes and does not seek to obtain profits. The Association aims to serve as a link between the healthcare ecosystem and the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), in order to promote better understanding among all stakeholders - such as doctors, researchers, engineers, startups, industry representatives, regulatory authorities and policymakers - of the opportunities, challenges and risks associated with the responsible digital transformation of healthcare. In this context, the purpose of the Association is to preserve, promote the scientific, regulatory and ethical interests of its Members and the associated organizations that are engaged in the development, implementation, validation, training and governance of AI in the healthcare sector, both in Europe and globally, as well as the general interest of the community, excluding the protection of any business or professional interests of members or third parties and also excluding any intention to generate competitive advantages for the Members. The Association represents these interests in political discourse and in interactions with government authorities, public and private institutions, professional bodies and international organizations, both in Switzerland and abroad. It may collaborate or join with other organizations that pursue similar or related objectives. To fulfill its purpose, the Association may in particular, in any case without commercial interests and for non-profit purposes: Organize congresses, symposia, scientific meetings, workshops, hackathons and webinars open to all, free of charge (subject only to what is indicated in the following art. 18(3)) and with a general educational, training and scientific purpose; Publish educational and scientific content, including white papers, position papers, technical guidelines and expert recommendations; Support registries, multi-center research collaborations and certification programs, in particular those of European or international scope; Establish and disseminate standards and guidelines for AI applications in healthcare, including those relating to data protection, clinical safety, transparency and compliance with legal frameworks such as the EU AI Act, the MDR, the GDPR, the FDA and the CE mark; Facilitate platforms and initiatives that bring together hospitals, academic institutions, startups, industry operators and government agencies. Support patient-centered, ethical and evidence-based AI innovation in healthcare practice and policy. The Association may offer services to its Members, their affiliated organizations or to third parties, to the extent that such activities are consistent with its purpose and promote its objectives, provided that such activities are always of marginal importance to the activities of the association and that such services will in no case constitute a predominant economic purpose of the association or an activity of exchanging services with the respective members.
