Its purpose is to promote cattle breeding in general and, in particular, to make cattle farming as profitable as possible for its members by building up a high-performance breeding cattle stock. It seeks to achieve this purpose by: targeted use of tested bulls; introducing and promoting test bulls; evaluating cows and young animals on their exterior, as well as testing every lactating cow once a month for milk quantity, milk fat and milk protein content and making the test data available to the Swiss Simmental Cattle Breeders' Association; every breeding animal is registered with the Swiss Simmental Cattle Breeders' Association and has a pedigree certificate; no material profit is intended.
