The Foundation is created by the European Club Association (ECA), as the sole Founder, with the firm commitment to use the power of sport, particularly football, to actively contribute to improving lives, uniting communities and building a sustainable future for all. The Foundation does not pursue any profit-making purpose and aims to have its purpose recognized as being of public utility. To this end, the purpose of the Foundation is to develop, promote and support programs, projects and research in the fields in which the Foundation operates, such as, inter alia: inclusion and integration (Article 2.1), gender equality and opportunities in sport (Article 2.2), education and learning (Article 2.3), environmental sustainability and climate change (Article 2.4) as well as health and well-being (Article 2.5), as well as making donations or contributions of any kind, whether or not related to sport.
2.1 Inclusion and Integration
The Foundation wishes to support inclusion and integration, notably by facilitating and promoting equal access and non-discriminatory participation in sport for all, including, inter alia, children, disadvantaged communities and refugees, through the social and educational role of sport in society; in particular, the Foundation aims to provide resources, create new opportunities, promote awareness and advocacy of the importance of equal access to sport, notably through educational initiatives, training and learning programs.
2.2 Gender Equality and Opportunities in Sport
The Foundation wishes to support gender equality and opportunities in sport by promoting and advocating for policy change, supporting women and girls in sport and funding research at all levels with the aim of finding concrete measures to remove barriers and create new opportunities for women to participate in sport and pursue their sporting careers.
2.3 Education and Learning
The Foundation wishes to support education and learning by strengthening, promoting and funding any kind of educational programs, notably through scholarships or grants, or any other learning activity related to sport and football aimed at creating new learning opportunities, developing talents and improving lives, in particular in sport and in football.
2.4 Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change
The Foundation wishes to support environmental sustainability and fight against climate change by educating and raising public awareness about the environmental impact of sport as well as the role that sport can play in addressing the issue of climate change. In this context, the Foundation wishes to support green sport initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and climate action, such as sporting events that compensate for their carbon emissions or sports facilities that generate renewable energy.
2.5 Health and Well-being
The Foundation wishes to support health and well-being by providing any assistance or funding programs, projects and research dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people and focusing on the positive effects that sport can have on physical and mental health.
