The foundation aims to build, maintain and care for an art collection, as well as promote a general understanding of Swiss art. The foundation intends to establish a representative and coherent collection of Swiss works from the 19th and 20th centuries at its headquarters in Bern. It strives to make its collection or parts of it regularly accessible to the public; it can also make its works available individually as loans for exhibitions, particularly in the Bern region. Furthermore, the foundation can support research work in the field of Swiss art history. The foundation can participate in other legal entities, acquire, sell and encumber properties. To fulfill its purpose, the foundation can also participate in other organizations with the same or similar purpose. The foundation's profits and capital are exclusively dedicated to the aforementioned purpose. Commercial purposes are excluded.
