The purpose of the Foundation is to contribute to achieving lasting health change in the promotion of public health and the fight against disease for the benefit of the populations of the countries in which it operates. The Foundation operates in countries in the southern part of the world, particularly in African countries. The Foundation takes all necessary and suitable measures and provisions for the promotion of public health and the fight against diseases and to remove the causes that prevent sustainable solutions; in particular, it: a) Encourages, promotes and supports the health authorities of the countries in which it operates to adopt suitable and sustainable health measures and provisions; b) Encourages, promotes and supports the realization and management of suitable health facilities as well as health projects and actions both at the level of fighting disease and at the level of prevention, for the benefit of the populations; c) Promotes education, training and subsequent updating of health and socio-health personnel both in the countries in which it operates and in Switzerland; d) Supports literacy, schooling and the right to education with particular reference to the dissemination of education on hygiene measures; e) Promotes and supports awareness-raising initiatives and activities on these topics, in particular by disseminating knowledge in the health, socio-health, scientific and cultural fields; f) Promotes the knowledge and awareness of the population on the main themes of Amref Health Africa (international cooperation, SDGs, Africa, health and its declinations, thematic pillars - access to water and sanitation, women's rights, child protection, climate change, health training) and on its projects. To achieve its purposes, the Foundation may: a) enter into agreements or sign declarations of intent with public or private entities that have similar purposes and are non-profit; b) promote fundraising through public appeals in accordance with the principles of truth, transparency and correctness.
