The purpose of the Foundation is to initiate and support, directly or indirectly, hand surgery and rehabilitation/physiotherapy programs, preferably for children who have suffered from trauma or burns, congenital malformations, paralysis, amputations and any other deformity, disease or disability that requires functional and/or aesthetic reconstruction. The same activity can also be extended to adults who have the same needs. To train healthcare personnel, surgical, medical, paramedical, nursing staff in the areas of intervention, in order to transfer and disseminate their skills, professionalism, work ethic, moral principles at the local level, thus contributing to improving the possibilities of care and the quality of reconstructive treatment for disadvantaged individuals. The Foundation operates in countries and geographical areas where access to healthcare for sick individuals is severely compromised by poverty, conflicts, social unrest, natural disasters. In particular, the activity is for the benefit of the poorest of the poor. The Foundation may acquire, restructure and/or manage real estate in Switzerland and abroad, provided that the use of such real estate is in line with the purpose of the Foundation and has social purposes. In particular, this activity concerns healthcare or hospital facilities in the countries of intervention. The Foundation may establish or participate in companies in Switzerland and abroad, provided that such companies do not have profit-making purposes or do not distribute dividends.
