The memory of Karl Schmid (1914-1998), engraver and artist, formerly a teacher at the Kunstgewerbeschule (now Zurich University of the Arts - ZHdK), as well as the preservation, care, classification and dissemination (through the creation of a professional archive and exhibitions) of his works of art and those owned by the founder, wherever they are located. The foundation may collaborate with other institutions and foundations, particularly with the aim of highlighting the human, scientific and artistic relationships that Karl Schmid had woven with other artists of the time (Hans Arp, etc.). The foundation may also participate, notably as the lead, in the realization of a museum structure. The foundation is of public interest and does not pursue profit and commercial purposes. It is authorized to purchase or exchange works of art in order to complete or give greater coherence to the collection. It is authorized to sell works of art if the achievement of the foundation's purposes requires it.
