The association represents the interests of pedestrians and strengthens their position in the settlement and traffic area. The association is a specialist association with a non-profit character, politically and confessionally neutral. As a specialist organization in accordance with the Federal Act on Footpaths and Hiking Trails (FWG), it supports the public authorities in its implementation. The following objectives are pursued: Promotes the planning, creation and maintenance of attractive, safe and direct pedestrian networks and their optimal connection to public transport; promotes pedestrian-friendly settlement areas with suitable public spaces; advocates for the safety of pedestrians; advocates for effective legal bases for footpath and hiking trail networks; is committed to better recognizing the health and ecological aspects of walking; pays particular attention to the needs of children, the elderly and people with disabilities; addresses the culture of walking.
