The dissemination and support of human rights with the aim of contributing to the creation of a free world without dictatorship; in particular, it is dedicated to the idea of non-violent resistance in totalitarian regimes of any political direction; it preserves the intellectual heritage and achievements of Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt and continues his life's work as a legacy, in particular through the award of the international human rights prize Dr. Rainer Hildebrandt Medal; it will maintain or support memorials and museums; it supports or promotes research, political education and the arts, in particular the visual arts; it may also acquire, rent, hold or sell properties; the foundation's area of activity is worldwide, with a focus on Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the rest of Europe; the foundation pursues exclusively non-profit purposes.
