The purpose of the cooperative is to promote the preservation of selected, historically valuable railway material (in particular steam locomotives) in operational condition. This is achieved through the collection and allocation of financial resources for the procurement and maintenance of such material through loans. The financial resources are to be allocated only to non-profit organizations that pursue the aforementioned purpose (preservation of historically valuable railway material). The cooperative operates selflessly; it does not pursue any economic purposes. Any surpluses may only be used in accordance with Article 2, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of these statutes. The members have no claim to the cooperative's profits or capital; this also applies in the event of liquidation.
