The foundation is a Swiss, non-profit and non-commercial organization. It is concerned with the welfare of animals and aims to contribute to the understanding between humans and animals. a) It promotes the welfare of animals, for example, by supporting activities in zoological gardens and wildlife reserves, such as sponsorships, enclosure and habitat improvements, which enable animals to live a better life and contribute to the survival of animals in the wild. It rewards exceptional personal achievements for the benefit of animals, to improve their care and conservation (e.g. animal keepers, animal and nature conservationists). b) It promotes the understanding between humans and animals, especially among children, for example, through actions that bring animals closer to children, including sick and disabled ones. It invites people in need to visit the zoological garden and conveys knowledge about good animal handling and conservation in the wild. c) The foundation's purpose can also be fulfilled through donations to other public, non-profit or tax-exempt social institutions in Switzerland and abroad, which are active in the sense of the foundation's purpose. d) The foundation does not pursue commercial purposes and does not strive for profit.
