Preservation and promotion of genetic diversity in fauna and flora. In the sense of preserving natural and cultural heritage, it advocates for both wild and domesticated life forms; its efforts are particularly focused on European wild species, livestock breeds and crop plants threatened with extinction. The foundation aims to continue or bring to a meaningful conclusion the life's work of the founder Hans-Peter Grünenfelder in a suitable manner; it is non-profit and does not pursue any gain. The foundation pursues its goals both domestically and internationally, it can be both operationally and promotionally active, and is particularly intended to take action in cases where other organizations are unable to act or do not have the means to do so.
