The foundation provides financial contributions to children and adolescents with special educational needs, in accordance with the Cantonal School Act of Zurich (VSG) and the Ordinance on Special Educational Measures (VSM). This is intended to enable students to receive supplementary support and promotion in addition to their school education. The measure decided by the foundation is intended to facilitate the students' educational career, entry into the workforce, and later advancement. The foundation provides its services for students from the Zurich-Limmattal school district, including the Altstetten quarter as a former sub-area of the Limmattal school district. If the funds are sufficient, requests from other school districts can also be considered. Assistance is granted when the difficulties and deficits require support that goes beyond the resources and possibilities of the public school system. As a rule, the assistance provided is integrative, school-based support for students with special educational needs in accordance with the Ordinance on Special Educational Measures. The assistance provided by the foundation must not replace services that are to be taken over by schools or other institutions in accordance with their statutory mandate, nor may it replace or supersede social welfare and official care services. The implementing provisions for the allocation practice are approved by the foundation board.
