The foundation aims to support and assist gifted but financially weak domestic and foreign students of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich as well as the University of Zurich. A scholarship from the Jean Anderson Studenten SOS Foundation can be obtained by individuals who: a) are regularly enrolled at the University of Zurich (basically 50% of the use of funds) or the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (basically 50% of the use of funds) or wish to start a course of study. However, only students of the University of Zurich who are pursuing a course of study at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences - with the exception of the subjects of paleontology and anthropology - or at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences should be supported and assisted. In addition, those students who are studying psychology or philosophy as a minor subject are excluded. b) have not reached the age of 30 or will presumably have completed their studies by the age of 30, c) are resident in Switzerland, d) gender, nationality and denomination play no role, e) appear particularly suited for the chosen course of study, and f) cannot adequately cover their maintenance and education costs with their own means. The fulfillment of these conditions, however, does not constitute a legal claim to a scholarship. In order to pursue the purpose, the foundation can in particular cooperate with the ETH Zurich Foundation (current business office: Weinbergstrasse 29, 8006 Zurich) as well as the UZH Foundation (current business office: Culmannstrasse 1, 8006 Zurich) in such a way that the foundation board contacts these two foundations and has candidates proposed by them who meet the above criteria. The payment of scholarships to the individual scholarship holders can in this case also be made by the ETH Zurich Foundation or the UZH Foundation, but in this case it must be ensured that the payments to the recipients are made with the note "Scholarship of the Jean Anderson Studenten SOS Foundation". In order to pursue the purpose, the foundation uses its own funds and, if necessary, those it receives from third parties. Both support contributions to the living and education costs and promotion contributions for bachelor's, master's, diploma and doctoral theses can be granted. Support contributions can be granted throughout the entire period of education. The board of the foundation determines the amount of the contributions at its discretion, orienting itself on the available funds of the foundation and, within this framework, on the needs of the beneficiaries, taking into account their own financial resources (assets and income). Before applying to the Jean Anderson Studenten SOS Foundation, state scholarship opportunities should generally be exhausted. Scholarship holders who complete their studies with "summa cum laude" can - provided the financial possibilities of the foundation allow - be granted a "Jean Anderson Prize" for outstanding achievements. The prize should be awarded in cash, the amount to be determined by the board of the foundation. Anyone who has been awarded a scholarship must notify the foundation of any significant improvement in their financial situation that occurs within the relevant year. The Jean Anderson Studenten SOS Foundation is entitled to proportionally reclaim scholarships if the financial situation of the recipient or recipients has significantly improved in the relevant semester or if a scholarship holder drops out of his or her studies. If a scholarship recipient fails to comply with a duty to provide information, the foundation can oblige him or her to repay the amounts received. Furthermore, the reclaiming of scholarships granted on the basis of incorrect information provided by the recipient or recipients is reserved. Otherwise, there is no obligation to repay the scholarships. However, the scholarship recipients are invited, after entering working life, to show solidarity by contributing with voluntary repayments to the support of gifted needy students by the Jean Anderson Studenten SOS Foundation. The board of the foundation can issue a regulation on the implementation of the foundation's purpose, which in particular defines the circle of beneficiaries, the conditions for the payment of promotion and support contributions, the amount and duration of the benefits as well as the procedure and which can only be issued and amended with the unanimity of the board of the foundation. The foundation does not pursue commercial purposes and does not aim to make a profit.
