The foundation finances and promotes climate protection and renewable energy resource projects and measures in Switzerland and abroad in cooperation with suitable partners from science, politics, society and economy. It pursues its purpose in particular by promoting processes for the conversion of biomass, such as carbonization and fermentation. Promotion of renewable energy sources and their process engineering processes, which drive the implementation of climate protection measures. Nutrient recycling, sustainable energy production, development of utilization concepts for plant charcoal and biological soil activation are developed and promoted from by-products of biomass processes. In addition, ecologically sustainable and profitable projects in agriculture, such as resource-saving food production, are to be promoted and financed. Research on climate neutrality, biodiversity, resource conservation and circular economy is funded through basic research and development of sustainable concepts. A high value chain and circular economy within a region is aimed for. The foundation communicates the knowledge gained through teaching, consulting and publications both in professional circles and in the public. To fulfill its purpose, the foundation can cooperate with suitable institutions and organizations, support them or become active itself. The foundation is not profit-oriented, but of a non-profit nature and does not pursue commercial or self-help purposes. It is politically and denominationally neutral.
