The cooperative aims to: a) operate a secure IT platform (MIDATA platform) for the storage, management, and sharing of personal data of any kind, in particular health and education data, and provide related services; b) make the MIDATA platform available to natural persons (members and third parties) who participate in the platform as holders of personal data accounts (as account holders); c) promote broad cooperative membership among account holders and enable them to pursue common interests as cooperative members; d) promote the digital self-determination of the population by enabling account holders to use their personal data as self-determined agents according to their wishes, in particular for research purposes; e) represent the collective interests of account holders by using their personal data as a common resource with their consent; this is achieved by enabling account holders to accept requests from third parties to analyze their personal data and to give explicit and informed consent for the secondary use of their personal data by third parties, resulting in economic compensation for the cooperative; f) promote the emergence of an innovative ecosystem with the MIDATA platform, in which third parties can offer data-based services to account holders; g) promote medical research projects and other projects to achieve a fair digital society and digital self-determination of the population; and h) use the scientific results obtained from the secondary use of personal data and the income generated from the secondary use of personal data for the purposes mentioned above. The cooperative aims to have a positive impact on society and the environment in its operational and commercial activities. The cooperative can carry out all activities that are directly or indirectly related to its purpose. The cooperative can support the establishment of cooperatives with the same purpose in Switzerland and abroad and merge with them to form a federation of cooperatives. The cooperative can establish subsidiaries in Switzerland and abroad, participate in other companies in Switzerland and abroad, and acquire, hold, and sell real estate.
