The purpose of the foundation is to annually honor one or more natural persons or organizations that have made outstanding humanitarian achievements in the sense of the OSJ's order goals. It also aims to achieve charitable and non-profit goals, as pursued by the OSJ pro fide, pro utilitate hominum (for the faith and for the benefit of humanity), which advocates for the poor and the sick, both materially and spiritually. This is achieved in particular through the support of people in need, promotion of youth and elderly care, public health care, education, popular and vocational training, including student aid, as well as collecting and distributing funds for other charitable and non-profit organizations. This also includes the implementation or promotion of public health measures, such as vaccinations and the fight against drug abuse, as well as the material support of students through scholarships or maintenance grants. The foundation's goals can also be achieved abroad, particularly in the context of joint projects with the German Hospitaliter Stiftung e.V.
