The foundation aims to protect and make the railway cultural heritage of the RhB, as well as the UNESCO World Heritage RhB, accessible in the long term, for the benefit of the public. All aspects of the railway cultural heritage are to be secured, preserved and valued for the benefit and experience of locals and guests. The railway cultural heritage includes, in particular, monuments in the fields of civil engineering and architecture, historic rolling stock, archives, collections or intangible assets. The foundation can take selected assets of the railway culture into its foundation assets or support and promote the protection and valorization of railway cultural assets of third parties. The foundation has an exclusively and directly non-profit purpose and does not pursue any profit. The foundation is politically and denominationally neutral.
