The foundation aims to promote building and planning culture, professional practice, and research in architecture and engineering, particularly in Switzerland but also internationally, by exploiting, collecting, and processing the knowledge generated through architectural and engineering competitions to make it available to the public and interested professional circles. To this end, the foundation aims to collect, process, and archive data, information, and materials on architectural and engineering competitions and the history of competition law; to explore and network existing and future collections and archives with knowledge on the topic of architectural and engineering competitions; to develop and make available methods for exploiting inaccessible or unexplored knowledge on architectural and engineering competitions; to provide information platforms to make the collected, processed, and documented knowledge and materials accessible; to identify research areas, fields of knowledge, and knowledge gaps in the field of architectural and engineering competitions and to initiate, promote, support, and communicate suitable research projects, as well as to operate them as a partner or on its own; to promote the development and application of recognized instruments for conducting architectural and engineering competitions, such as the SIA Competition Ordinance 142. The foundation can manage and maintain physical (archives, libraries) and virtual (databases) spaces, in particular for capturing and retrieving data according to desired criteria and for statistical evaluation. The foundation can actively take on tasks in promotion, consulting, and training, in particular organizing lectures and discussion events. It can distribute media releases and other information. Finally, the foundation can offer support, alone or in cooperation with universities, in the preparation of dissertations and diploma theses on the topic of engineering and architectural competitions, as well as initiate and accompany such work. The foundation renounces any profit-making or self-help purposes.
