The foundation has the non-profit purpose of promoting public welfare. It promotes understanding and communication about peace work in society. The foundation is particularly involved in the promotion and financing of the events, research and teaching programs held and planned in Switzerland by the Cité des Cultures de la Paix and its international interdisciplinary Institute for Coexistence and Conflict Studies, focusing on the following six thematic areas: coexistence and conflict studies, political, cultural, social and economic integration versus exclusion, genocide studies, totalitarianism studies, children and young people in need, interdisciplinarity; full purpose description according to the statutes.
