The foundation promotes the inclusion of hard of hearing and deaf people, with a focus on the canton of Bern, and their self-determined and equal participation in social life. It advocates for barrier-free access to equal rights, opportunities, and responsibilities. The foundation is actively in contact with hard of hearing and deaf people and promotes communication between hearing, hard of hearing, and deaf individuals. In doing so, it cultivates, supports, and recognizes diverse forms of communication, such as sign language, lip reading, writing, and all forms in between. It raises awareness in society about Deaf culture and the challenges and resources of hard of hearing and deaf people in society. It operates specialist offices for social counseling and engages in cooperation with relevant institutions in early detection, education, research, further education, and integration. The foundation has a non-profit character and does not pursue any commercial purpose.
