The foundation makes the collection of artworks, particularly those of Swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler, owned by Mr. Thomas Schmidheiny and his descendants, available to the interested public in Switzerland and abroad. The aim is to promote a better understanding of European art in general and Ferdinand Hodler's works in particular among the public. The foundation will manage the works compiled in the aforementioned private collection, i.e., finance all expenses related to the maintenance, professional care, and conservation of these works, the preparation and implementation of exhibitions, the creation of catalogs and publications, etc. In addition, the foundation may occasionally engage in the purchase and sale of Ferdinand Hodler's works and other artworks. The foundation will support scientific research on 19th and 20th-century European art, particularly the life and work of Ferdinand Hodler, and promote all measures that contribute to deepening the understanding of this art on a national and international level. The foundation is a non-profit organization and does not pursue any commercial purpose.
