The foundation aims to fulfill the obligations imposed on the appointed heir by the last will of Miss Martha Bigler, to devote the entire estate to charitable and benevolent purposes, in particular to preserve and acquire housing for elderly people or other individuals whose own means are insufficient to provide them with a suitable dwelling. The foundation may also use its assets or the income from them to provide contributions to non-profit institutions with the same or similar purpose, which support the federal government, cantons or municipalities in fulfilling their statutory tasks.
