Ensuring medical expert opinions through the medical assessment centre (Medas) in St. Gallen. The foundation can perform expert opinions itself or have them performed by third parties, acquire, encumber, sell and manage real estate, hold participations and operates independently of state or private insurance companies or other state and private institutions. To the extent that the foundation's assets are not required for the primary purpose, the foundation board may, at its discretion, make contributions to medical research.
