Primarily, to promote knowledge of filmmaking from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The foundation may also consider films of other origins if it deems them culturally and developmentally important. It fulfills these tasks in particular through the procurement, distribution and promotion as well as the archiving of films, especially in Switzerland. The foundation may also promote or provide other activities that are in the interest of audiovisual works from the aforementioned regions or their cultures in general; for cultural and development policy reasons, it may also support audiovisual works of other origins in a meaningful way.
