The foundation aims to preserve rare forest communities and landscapes in the area described in the personal service contract (lease agreement) with the Oberallmeindkorporation Schwyz of July 25, 1984; to research forest communities after closure through regular recurring surveys and to observe the undisturbed, natural course of life in the forest; to preserve beautiful forest and landscape images; the Bödmeren reserve is intended to serve scientific research, e.g. in the fields of forest ecology, geology, botany and ornithology; a special role is played by ETH Zurich and the Swiss Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape WSL, which jointly operate a forest long-term monitoring program; the reserve is also open to other research institutions in agreement with the foundation board.
