The foundation aims to support organizations and institutions in Switzerland and, exceptionally, abroad, that are committed to helping people in need; it can also directly support people in need, provided their need has been established. Grants abroad should only be made in exceptional cases, such as natural disasters; general distress in countries in need or organizations that support corresponding projects should not be supported (exception: Médecins Sans Frontières), unless a Swiss citizen is personally involved on site to alleviate distress. No contributions should be made for medical research, art, and culture. Priority is given to grants - to organizations that support people in need in Switzerland - to single mothers/fathers, by financing childcare during a recreational vacation or enabling otherwise absent vacations - to alleviate human distress, as long as no state support is provided - to elderly people in need - to people who lose their job shortly before retirement and therefore fall into distress - to underprivileged young people, young adults, disabled people, or single mothers for education and training - to people, especially girls and women, who are in need of help due to psychological or physical domestic violence (also women's and men's shelters for victims of violence) - to families in distress.
