The foundation covers the costs for supporting and promoting university-based and institutional research in the psychology and neurobiology of consciousness, with the goal of better understanding the relationship between the brain and the mind, as well as their impact on social and cultural relationships. This is intended to lead to an improvement in the human condition. The foundation can, in particular: support existing educational and research institutions or projects; support the development of new educational and research offerings and institutions; take measures to create public understanding of the foundation's purpose; conduct seminars and courses within the scope of the foundation's purpose; award the "Albert Hofmann Fellowship Award" for scientific studies in the field of consciousness research by doctoral and postdoctoral students. It can extend its activities to other areas, provided they are in line with the aforementioned purpose. The foundation has a non-profit character and does not pursue any commercial purpose. The foundation is politically and denominationally neutral.
