The objective of IISA is to encourage and promote ice swimming safety globally and to facilitate interaction among participants in areas of common interest. To this end, IISA engages in activities such as organizing events, marketing, global communications, creating and implementing codes of conduct, and creating globally recognized standards and awards for distinguished work in this activity. It also defines safety criteria for participants and events to ensure, as far as possible, that all such activities meet the highest safety standards. The association's main objectives are therefore as follows: a) to promote ICE swimming and IISA swimming worldwide; b) to promote safety in extreme swimming events; c) to establish and organize annual IISA events around the world; d) to promote and support medical research on ice swimming; e) to promote knowledge and understanding of ice swimming; f) to promote and protect the ICE environment; g) to promote communities in the locations where IISA swims take place; h) to promote a healthy lifestyle, excellence in sports, and strive to bridge cultural, religious, or political differences through ice swimming in a unified and peaceful environment, and i) to carry out any other activity to promote ICE swimming as a sport.
