IISART is dedicated to the advancement and promotion of modern health technology in rehabilitation for the benefit of patients and society as a whole. IISART represents the interests of developers, manufacturers, and marketers of medical products and their accessories, active medical devices, and services in the field of rehabilitation technology, such as robotics, virtual rehabilitation, therapeutic electrical stimulation, sensor-based technologies, invasive or non-invasive neurostimulation, and others. All these technologies are referred to as advanced rehabilitation technologies (hereinafter referred to as rehabilitation technologies). The objectives of IISART are as follows: to promote the common interests of its members at national and international levels; to advocate for and maintain appropriate industry standards in healthcare in the field of rehabilitation technology worldwide for the benefit of patients and users; to collect and examine relevant laws and regulations applicable to the industry and to communicate this information to its members and relevant international organizations; to anticipate new developments and requirements and to initiate responses; to disseminate and promote scientific knowledge and expertise; to maintain transparent and reliable relationships with national and international authorities, institutions, and other relevant stakeholders to convey the social, economic, and scientific relevance of rehabilitation technology to the rehabilitation industry worldwide; to represent IISART members in general, to strive for a representative view of all members, and to promote their interests: a) vis-à-vis various national and international authorities; b) vis-à-vis all other healthcare professional associations (if necessary, in consultation with the relevant international or national association); c) vis-à-vis all local, national, or international professional, patient, or consumer groups in the healthcare sector (if necessary, in consultation with the relevant international or national association); to combat discriminatory trade practices; to advocate for favorable economic conditions for rehabilitation technologies in the global rehabilitation industry; and to cooperate with other associations and organizations on matters of common interest.
