The Council of European Episcopal Conferences (CCEE) is an instrument of communion among the European Episcopal Conferences. Its purpose is to promote and protect the well-being of the Church, which strives for greater unity in the world. Specifically: To foster collegiality in the hierarchical community with and under the Pope. To promote closer communion and cooperation among the bishops and Episcopal Conferences of Europe, while respecting the task and competence of each, in order to promote and inspire the new evangelization in Europe; To foster communion with the councils of Episcopal Conferences of other continents; To promote ecumenical cooperation in Europe, in order to restore the unity of Christians; To bear witness to the Church in European society.
