To support the production, collection and dissemination of Free Content without profit motive, with the aim of promoting the dissemination of culture and equal opportunities in access to knowledge. In accordance with the Association's definition, Free Content refers to all works marked by their authors with a license that allows anyone to modify and disseminate them. Furthermore, this increases awareness of social and philosophical issues related to it. The collection and dissemination of Free Content must take place mainly, but not exclusively, through Wiki. Wiki are software applications accessible via the Internet that allow users to access and modify content, thus enabling the collaborative creation of such content. The free encyclopedia Wikipedia, founded by Larry Sanger and Jimmy D. Wales and managed by the Wikimedia Foundation, is the most evident example of the implementation of these principles. The Association shares the purposes of Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization based in the United States. Wikimedia Foundation coordinates numerous activities internationally in line with the Association's purposes and manages the Wikimedia name and the names of the various international Wikimedia projects. The purpose of the Association will be pursued through: the management and financing of online systems for the production, collection and dissemination of Free Content. The dissemination and support of the dissemination of Free Content through other means, for example in digital or paper form, with particular regard for the content of Wikimedia's international projects. The acquisition, offering and dissemination of information as well as public relations activities concerning Free Content, Wiki and Wikimedia projects, through the organization of events or the use of paper materials. The solution of scientific, social, cultural and legal issues related to Free Content and Wiki, for example through expert opinions, surveys, studies and the awarding of scholarships. The promotion of exchange and cooperation between Wikimedia projects in different languages, especially in German, French, Italian and Romansh, as well as in Swiss dialects with regard to Wikimedia projects in German. In carrying out its activities, the Association does not allow and indeed prohibits any form of discrimination against users, actual or potential, of its services and employees, based on race, skin color, sex, religious faith, nationality, age, disability, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristic protected by law. The Association may collect or transfer funds to other tax-exempt companies or public law corporations, provided that such funds are used exclusively for the purposes mentioned above, and may also hold shares or participate in such companies. The Association does not pursue commercial purposes and does not aim to make profits. The Association's funds may only be used for the purposes indicated in this statute. Members, as such, may not derive any economic benefit from the Association's assets. Members may not receive any part of the Association's assets in the event of their withdrawal, dissolution of the Association or cessation of its activity. No person may benefit from expenses that are not necessary for the promotion of the Association's purposes or from payments of disproportionate amount.
