The non-profit foundation aims to: a) Promote animal welfare. This purpose can be achieved in particular by supporting individual institutions that take in mistreated and abandoned animals. Specifically through donations, grants for specific measures for the care and treatment of mistreated animals, as well as financial contributions for the establishment and maintenance of care facilities for mistreated animals. b) Promote and support needy children and young people. c) Promote art and culture, particularly to promote classical music. This means direct participation in the financing of events and projects of the European Cultural Forum Mainau Foundation (which should receive at least the annual income from the net sales proceeds of the Salenstein property each year, from which the Anneliese Rothenberger Prize is also to be endowed) and the Speyer Cathedral Foundation, as well as financial support for the Mannheim National Theatre. The foundation's purpose can also be fulfilled by awarding foundation funds to other non-profit organizations.
