The association aims to disseminate scientific knowledge and exchange information, innovations in the field of applied rheology, in particular through the creation and dissemination of the international journal Applied Rheology. In accordance with the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, this journal is to be led by two editors with different specializations (experimental/theoretical). The two editors strive to staff an internationally renowned editorial board. The journal is to appear regularly, at intervals of two months, in electronic and printed form, and be made available to the members of the association. To differentiate itself from other journals in the field of rheology, the journal is to contain, in addition to scientific contributions/articles/reviews that must undergo a peer review process, book reviews, conference reports, patent reports, a buyer's guide, new developments, a conference calendar, and information for members of national rheological societies. Summaries of scientific contributions are to be published in three languages, and all other contributions are to be written in English as far as possible. Communication between members is to take place largely through cost-effective electronic means.
