The Association RÉFORMER, within the limits of the competencies defined by the cantonal or federal legislation, coordinates and regulates postgraduate medical training in French-speaking Switzerland, optimizes the pathways of physicians in postgraduate training, and aims for a better distribution of medical resources between the training institutions recognized by the Swiss Institute for Medical Education (ISFM) and the regions of French-speaking Switzerland. To this end, the Association has the following missions:
a. To coordinate and regulate the postgraduate training of physicians in tracks established according to the specialist titles recognized by the ISFM;
b. To provide the cantons with a planning of postgraduate training positions for their financing decision in order to regulate and distribute said positions among the different training institutions recognized by the ISFM (hospital services, clinics, and recognized practices);
c. To guide physicians in training early on through personalized counseling (orientation counseling on the one hand and postgraduate medical training counseling on the other), based on future medical needs: region, discipline, and type of activity;
d. To collect information and produce indicators relating to medical demographics and postgraduate training.
To carry out its missions, the Association RÉFORMER collaborates with the partners of postgraduate medical training, including the academic world, practicing and training physicians, training institutions, and the ISFM. The Association RÉFORMER may provide healthcare professionals with services and/or IT services. It contracts with the necessary technical providers to accomplish this task. The Association has a public utility character and does not pursue any lucrative purpose.
