The cooperative aims to supply the municipality of Alberswil with water for drinking, household and firefighting purposes in accordance with the public task of water supply transferred to the cooperative by the municipality of Alberswil. The cooperative constructs, operates and maintains the necessary water supply facilities in compliance with federal and cantonal regulations, in particular in accordance with the Water Use and Water Supply Act of the Canton of Lucerne (WNVG). The cooperative operates, among other things, the spring catchment in Chellenwald, the two reservoirs Chellen and Kasteien, the associated main and supply lines as public lines, as well as a connection shaft and a connection line with the water supply cooperative Schötz to ensure the water supply in emergency situations. The cooperative can acquire, manage, encumber and sell properties and infrastructure that affect the water supply. It can enter into all transactions and conclude contracts that are suitable for promoting the purpose of the cooperative or are directly or indirectly related to it.
